Solving The Enigma: Creasehearst

When it came time to solve another enigma during our 6th anniversary celebration, I thought a full second who to interview. This guy has been a part of The Enigma Order since we started doing MC, and has been constantly active and an integral part of the community ever since he joined the guild. For many, still known as Rageoholic, the player behind the legendary deathknight Creasehearst tells us some equally legendary stories about watching Futurama, dressing up as birds and pizza-hungry tanks.

Read on for a truly fantastic interview, and head to the forum for the talkback!

The Enigma Order is 6 Years (In a week)

February 15th!

Ok, it’s a few days to go, but why not start now? And we’re hoping that within the week we’ll have killed Nefarian as part of the celebration. Fun fact: We killed Nefarian 40 one day before our first anniversary, and chances are good we’ll replicate that feat with Nefarian 25…

Starting already now, the guild comic returns in spectacular fashion with a daily update every day (doh) up until the 15th feb! So be sure to check our forum every day for the latest funny!

Weekly Update

So blood, time, and running have been the theme this week much time as always spent on Nefarian
Raiding

Thursday: Clearing no big thing happening there, then Nefarian practise seeing a 10% wipe happen and the spirit was high after that. But nothing major happened after.

Sunday: Somehow it was like being back to progress raiding ToGC Anub’arak on Sunday the raid time was filled with dc’s and wipes, one 4% wipe but we could as well wipe in phase 1, this raid had very different wipes to offer.  Made a short break to say hi to the Conclave but went right back to Nefarian practise after that

Wednesday is wipe day. 8% best try. Will Nefarian be our new Vaelastrazs, Anub’arak or C’Thun? Let’s not be negative here, we’re not replicating our fiasco in Ahn’Qiraj, but there’s no doubt Nefarian is a hard one.

Guild member Axc has kept track and listed the statistics over our wipes and the %. It’s not really a cheerful reading, but it shows progress if nothing else. http://enigmaorder.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=12850

Patch day paradise this week =D
This is what I heard: Rogues will be permanently stealthed, paladins are getting a well deserved dps nerf, and all night elves will continue to be fabulous. Fabulous!

TEO Weekly Update

Raiding

So another week of raiding has gone by and BWD has taken a beat once again. Clearing everything up to Nefarian the first day relative easily, leaving the rest of the week for Nefarian practice.

Sundays raid we once again found ourself battling a dragon not willing to just roll over and ended up hitting phase three with about halfway to go on his health bar, setup wise screwing us some on the healer front but we’ll continue to push onward

Tuesday raid was good, and even though we didn’t clear it, Nefarian felt the wrath of The Enigma Order. He’s not sleeping well tonight, knowing we start at scratch tomorrow, shields polished, swords sharpened, mana  pools filled.  Things will definitely be interesting next reset!

The Twilight Cultists were stopped. Again.

The Twilight Cultists were stopped. Again.

Good stuff did how ever happen in a totally different instance, the 10man version of Twilight Bastion has been conquered by The Enigma Order poking the last eye ball on Cho’gall making him drop dead in front of us. Sadly no one bothered to take a picture, so you’ll just have to trust us.
So now it’s just wait and see what epic encounters we will find in this instance can on heroic mode and it’s new end boss.

Solving the Enigma: Tully

In the first of a series of monthly (or bi-weekly) interviews with our guild members, we meet up with Tully, one of the longest serving members of the guild. Tully hasn’t been that active in the last two expansions, according to himself (exalted with all the new factions in Cataclysm is “not active” hmmm?), but he still plays and certainly still enjoys the game.
As the nostalgic that he is, Tully talks a bit about Ragnaros and other experiences in vanilla.

Alive and kicking

After what seems to be the end of the news site someone decided to cast a combat resurrection on it and look what popped up

We have been quite active seen the release of Cataclysm a lot of people levelled up quickly and the heroic farm begun.
With more and more people getting the gear needed we started to raid 10man almost as soon as there where 10 people with the gear and will (which was not a problem) to begin with, and quickly whopped up some bosses. Which has left us with basically only two bosses left on 10man mode

Some interesting encounters indeed and we managed to obtain quite a bit of understanding of most bosses for a lot of our players before the beginning of 25man raids which was ushered at the same time as the new year.
With most of the guys already knowing the encounters we yet again got some quick boss kills and we are now training for the somewhat more complicated fights.

Some of our most recent kills

Conclave of winds bites the dust.

Maloriak runs out of adds

We are now aiming towards the end bosses on normal mode and seems like we are in for a treat with yet again a bunch of interesting fights to deal with
The above leads on to the next point which is the need for expanding roster, we are always recruiting exceptional players so even if you are not the class we are interested in you might be the person

We do how ever have a few requirements listed below

  • Experienced in the game, in particular the pve aspect. Being an old timer from as far back as vanilla is a plus (our leading crew consists of such players).
  • Able and willing to raid 3 times per week, under stable schedule. We are strict about this requirement.
  • Oriented at hard modes, however not hardcore focused. We keep a balance. It’s sometimes hard, but in the end it’s always good.
  • Fluent in English. We have had cases of skilled players who simply couldn’t keep up in raids, simply because they did not comprehend the tactics explained in English. Again, we are strict on this one.
  • We expect you to be in time for raids and being prepared with consumables and good attitude. Also you are ready to raid for the whole duration of the raid.

It might be worth to state one more thing explicitly – we are less concerned with gear. We have had a few successful cases where a very poorly geared player convinced us with his application he was the material we were after, which ended up in a win-win situation. On the other hand we want the gear to at least show that a maximum effort was put in it.

Our immediate recruitment needs are reflected in the chart on the right hand column.
However let not this blind you as said above you might be a person we want anyway

Glory of the Icecrown Raider, 10 man

Today we have tamed ourselve the first pair of Frost Wyrms, a reward from 10 man Icecrown Citadel meta achievement.

The road to them was quite interesting – some bosses in heroic proved to be really challenging for us, while others went down without a second though. We could also clearly see how the scaling buff (Strenght of Wrynn) was simplifying some encounters.

Ironically enough, the last 2 part of the puzzle were not heroic mode kills, but normal achievement. Eventually we got this done so that two of out fashionable night elves (Insurer and Lamme) could enjoy their new frosty companions.

It is also worth noting, that with this we are now at 3 out of 3 Wrath of the Lich King meta achievements.

The Enigma Order celebrates 5 years!

It’s certainly not usual for wow guilds to last over long periods of time, and 5 years in the online gaming world is even rarer. But February 15th The Enigma Order could celebrate 5 years as a guild. Even though many of those who started the guild have stepped down – me included – we still keep an eye out for what’s going on with TEO. And the guild spirit is certainly still there, with many long time members at charge, and a good composition of “new” and “old” members teaming up to defeat any encounter. It’s safe to say that gaming wise the guild has never been stronger, and rumors has it that the Lich King himself dreads the day when The Enigma Order enters his inner sanctum.

The celebration itself was somewhat simpler this time than last year, but it did not pass by unnoticed. A thread was made where present and former members could take a trip down memory lane, and the guild comic got a sudden revival.

All in all, we can’t see any reason why this guild won’t outlast the game itself. So happy birthday to all of you who have participated in the surprising longevity of this guild and the considerable wealth of spectacular moments we’ve shared.
May there be many more good moments to come.
