Question - Frost specc in raids.

Hey.

Currently I'm raiding 17/51/3 using Frost Strike, Howling Blast and Obliterate Glyphs. But my DPS seems pretty mediocre, looking at the WWS logs. Admittably this is the first time I went to DPS in this specc. My rotations on single targets are:

HB, BS, BS (if not already DRs), OB, OB, OB and so forth. Using all my RP in between to get some FS off.

When AOE'ing:

HB, BB, BB, OB and so forth, again using all my RP on FS.

Apart from that I'm using 4/5 tier 7, so I do get the additional RP, I'm also seeing the 9k-10k crits everybody is talking about, so what am I doing wrong here? Is it just time for me to respecc or is it me who's garbage? ^^

Thanks.

Re: Question - Frost specc in raids.

Your rotation seems about right. Gear / weapon issue perhaps?

You should skip Virulence and get full Dark Conviction. Frost Strike is not affected by Virulence. Also, get Unbreakable armor instead of Icy reach. 25% strengh is alot.

Okay, thanks! Well I'm using a shitty Naxx 10 weapon (Demise), and I'm wearing 3 parts of tier7, 1 part of tier 7,5. Seeing as DPS never was my "mainspecc", I really never geared for it. So maybe that's it. I'll switch the points over in the talenttree. Never stood still by the fact that Unbreakable Armor also was a dmg buff. I always took it for the other effect and kind of forgot the 25% strenght.
Anyways, I'll go check my DPS on the dummies in Ironforge later this day, I'll post my results.

Re: Question - Frost specc in raids.

Try to weave inn frost strikes on every KM proc, no matter what, should give you another 200 DPS or perhaps even more. Basically, you want to minimize the chance that KM will be overwritten/renewed before you use it.

Okay.. and which do you recommend for applying Frost Fever? Icy Touch or Howling Blast?

/edit: on 1 target fights.

Re: Question - Frost specc in raids.

On one target fights i start with IT, PS, OB, BS, BS and continue keeping Frost Fever up with HB. Also remember to time your rime procs so that you can refresh Frost Fever with it, but if you are about to go to OB stage of your rotation, you should use Rime before so it wont get overwritten.

Re: Question - Frost specc in raids.

If you want to get stuck on a set rotation then goes with something like this(Enimusha also stated it):
IT,PS,OB,2xBS,FS spam,OB,OB,OB,FS spam, and keep frost fever up with HB from now on(I stop doing PS also).

But when I play the rotation is more like this:
IT,PS,FS,OB,BS,FS,BS,FS,OB,HB,OB,FS,OB,FS,HB

On every KM proc I stop everything and do a FS. FS is your hardest(by quite far) hitting ability, its basically where all the DPS is smile

So like Enimusha states, its more like a priority system where you work as hard you can not to get either KM or Rime overwritten/renewed before you are able to use FS or HB.

The build requires alot of training, but fuck its fun once you start getting the hang of it. Best DK build imo! smile

Okay, so:
Warriors are OP because they can apply Sunder Armor via both Devastate and Sunder Armor,
Hunters are OP because they can apply Lock and Load via both (5!) traps and Black Arrow,
Mages are OP because they can apply chilled effects via both Frost Armor and Frostbolt,
Rogues are OP because they can apply poisons via both melee attacks and Shiv..

ALL CLASSES R OP! sad sad sad sad sad

Anyways, thanks guys, gonna test it after I've taken my dog out! smile Also gonna change some gems for most profit. I'll post the results.

Edit: It haz worked, now hitting around 3k DPS without using UB. As previously mentioned, my Frost Strike deals around 40% of my damage (39%) and trying to rotate your Fever refreshing around your Rime proccs works really well!

Thanks guys, gonna try it out on Mimiron etc tonight! ;D

Its a really nice build for raids, great aoe and good single target dps, when you get the rotations right. Oh, and huuuge crits too! But nice that you got it working, gl for Mimiron. smile

Re: Question - Frost specc in raids.

Dummies dont really work good with frost spec testing, since they are usually below 35%.
