Have you guys read about the upcoming MMO The Secret World?
Along with Rift this is the first MMO I get intetested about after WoW launch. I't just has so much of unique aspects that could make is so much more different and better than the "traditional" MMO's. Personally I'm really looking forward to it

when i played Aion, (about up to 1½ month after release) there was quests for about 15-20% to the next level per level when you went past 25-30

I am now at level 41 and I have my quest log full and could get at least another 30 quests. Aion has gone a lot forward since release.

First in-game video footage of an instance run. Release date is still unknown and the game is in alpha stage. The graphics and the combat is amazing. They've got some work to do on the character animations though And just take a look at that "talent tree" of the game. Over 500 abilities and it is possible to learn all of them. If you thought you we're running out of keybinds on wow..

So heres the skill wheel of TSW: http://tsw.mmoz.pl/tsw-skillwheel.html
Requires quite some learning
Its not 100% done yet because the information is not gathered directly from the game but from other sources. But still amazing job by those people to make it so early.

I know the question may sound stupid, but - what exactly is the gameplay in Secret World about?
I mean, what it is that's supposed to make players stick to the title for a long time? If someone asked me what is it in WoW that makes the game so long living, I would say - raids. What in Secret World?

I suppose in the end its going to come up to the same point as in wow: raids. But when I started playing wow I didnt start it because of raids. I started it because I had played warcraft games in the past and imaging an MMO based on warcraft world seemed fantastic. They had a huge lore and warcraft history to build wow upon and the game was and is legendary no doubt. Unfortunately Blizzard focused perhaps bit too much only to raids and because of that warcraft has evolved actually very little in these 6 years and the pvp aspect has been completely forgotten. We got new allies, draeneis and worgen and killed a bunch of really meaningful bosses, but what else? Stormwind got a harbor and the world changed with cataclysm, but the funny part is that no one actually cares that the world is different, because no one is leveling their alts by doing the new quests. Low level open world pvp is completely non existent these days. I find myself playing my mage only in battlegrounds, because I've had my share of instance grinding well enough and the world is just boring because no one is there. You only might meet someone leveling archaeology if you are lucky. I think its just sad what Blizzard did. Or could it have been something that even Blizzard couldnt anticipate? That people would only grind instances with their alts and do nothing else. Obviously re-creating the world took a huge amount of time and now that work looks like completely pointless.
Funcom started creating the background story for TSW back in 2003/2004. They crawled through countless legends, mysteries, conspiracy theories and historical events and made their game story based on their research and ofcourse mixed it with some creativity and twist of their own. In other words, they could be doing the same as Blizzard did with their Warcraft story long time ago. PvE is going to be the main theme of the game and I assume its going to be extremely addictive if you are interested of such genre TSW is about. But then there is also the pvp part that is going to be very interesting considering no classes, no levels, 7 active and 7 passive abilities/skills to choose from 500, 3 factions fighting each others in single bg/arena. There will also be an area created for 24/7 ongoing pvp battle for different kinds of resources. PvP in TSW has countless possibilities, far less predictable than pvp in wow. Cant think of any but one word at this point: chaos. PvP theorycrafters will have their brains melting..

And the raids you mentioned - do you have any more details on that part? I mean, well, I don't know what I mean! How will a standard Secret World raid look like? How many players, any assigned roles, boss-specific mechanics or something completely different I can't even think of?

From what I know the normal instances will be 5man and raids 10man. They havent released any actual footage or information about the raids yet, only about the normal instances. Im not even sure will there be raids available at the release. But if you have watched the videos I posted above you can get pretty good view of how the instances are going to be in the game. The final boss fight in the part3 video looks more like a raid boss than a regular 5man instance boss so I would guess the difficulty is beginning from a high standard considering that is the "first and easy" instance in the game.
There will still be the normal tank, healer and dps roles in the game but there are more flexibility than in wow. Atleast in the beginning people will stick to the traditional roles but when the game becomes more familiar to players perhaps it might be possible to do instances in totally new way, lets say.. all dps, self healing, not taking damage, avoiding bad stuff, kiting..
But that is just speculation of mine

So was betatesting the game last weekend and all I can say is.. amazing.
The cutscenes are 100x better than swtor, quest design is awesome and not boring as in every other mmo, graphics, environment and the details in it are amazing too, music is good and combat has its own cool music, the skill system is innovative and refreshing.
Only experienced 1 crash during the weekend, no bugs and no lag. A bit of computer lag though, but they will most likely tweak things out a bit still.
Cant really make any final decisions about the game since there so much stuff yet unseen, but so far its looking promising.
I will definitely play it at launch

So here is a preview of the 2nd dungeon in the game. Looks like Funcom raises the difficulty bar quite high in the very early parts of the game which is a thing I like. The guys in this preview are doing the dungeon in normal mode and there are 2 difficulty levels above that being hard and nightmare.
Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eaH-aV_r … r_embedded
And theres barely any trash in the dungeon ^^
