Obscure's TBC thread (Priest focus)

Talents
First I need to say that some of the new talents are funny. Both for holy and for shadow there is some really good stuff.
We have a spell called Vampiric Touch, wich works sort of like Vampiric Embrace, only it gives mana back to you. It also has a cast time and puts a dot on target.
Further down, theres something that will make warlocks and mages drool: Misery; Your SWP, MF and Vampiric Touch (read above) puts a debuff on target that increases spelldmg to the mob with ut to 5%.

Tried holy for the first time on beta. Looks incredibly fun. This new talent called lightwell and something called holy nova.. looks really good.
okok.. but it does look really good. some interresting talents. im trying out circle of healing now.

Spells
61: Flash heal
62: Shadow word: death - ranged instant "execute". it deals around 500 base dmg, but gets 100% of spellpower. it always deals dmg to your enemy, but if it doesnt kill your enemy, you take the damage as well. my SWD did as shadow around 900 dmg, 1500crits.
63: Greater heal
65: Shield, Shadowfiend (pet, give you mana when it attacks. Lasts for 15sec, 5min CD)

Items
I replaced my wand on the very first quest. I had Marlis Touch, so I wasnt very suprised. The one I got has 6sta, 6int, 4spi and 7spellpower.
I also got a robe that is better than Transcendence in the very first instance, a mere 30mins after I stepped into outlands. It is lvl 61, and sports 67healing, 22sta, 24int, 18spi, and 2mps. I will also enchant it with my new recipe "Enchant Chest 5mps". Be aware that the stats I presented is after I socketed with the simplest of gems.
I also got bracers from a boss called "Broggok", but I ended up DEing them. But look at the trinket and gloves he can drop... Link

There is green BoEs on AH that rival BWL epics. For instance a lvl 63 dagger: "Soul-Drain Dagger of Intellect", wich has base stats of 42 spellpower and in this case, 19intellect as random stat.

Trinket:
http://img225.imageshack.us/img225/5783/healertrinketdr4.jpg

I have found 3 good trinkets so far, with very similar stats. All have a use function with spell-increase. In addition they have respectively crit, hit and static spellpower. I use all of them, but the one with crit is a favourite.

General
I get a bit sad here in outlands, cause the story is sad. And this town (Honor Hold) gets constant bombardements of meteors. There is also a breathtaking first impression of outlands, when you step through the dark portal.

Me and Chimp got ourselves some new pets.

This is right above a place called "Death's Door", where Magtheridons minions come crawling out. Not even the scariest place I have seen today.

And to answering a question many of you have asked: Yes. You do get XP for mobs in Azeroth. At 60, i get ~200 XP for a 52 mob (51 is gray).

Re: Obscure's TBC thread (Priest focus)

I dont wonder one bit you get xp from Azeroth too. smile But the amounts of xp we will have to gain must be so vast, grinding in Azeroth could get you to 70; it would just take your life and more dedication than what ive seen anywhere big_smile

Jolt, they dont know the name cos the name doesnt exist yet. But the item exists and _drops_ in Khazaran, which is now being farmed on beta servers smile

They opened Shadowmoon Valley early today. And the last of "possbile retail factions" were ruled out. You dont need Wildhammer Clan reputaion either it seems.

also from the beta (not me)

Re: Obscure's TBC thread (Priest focus)

since i have too much time, i will give some more info about TBC (its not like i have to write all night to finish my paper on environmental archaeology)

Instances:

Release:

Hellfire Citadel
Coilfang Resevoir
Auchindoun
Caverns of Time
Gruul's Lair
Tempest Keep
Karazhan

Patched in later:

Zul'Aman
Hyjal (Caverns of Time)
Black Temple

Most of these instances have several wings, just like Dire Maul and Blackrock Spire.

Blizzard wrote:

Hellfire Citadel
As a part of the first encounters in the new Outland portion of the expansion pack, players will get a chance to adventure in Hellfire Citadel. This new four-winged dungeon is strategically placed in the very heart of the Hellfire Peninsula, between the Horde and Alliance home bases. Once a Horde stronghold during the First and Second Wars, this bastion of power was thought long abandoned until recently. Now Fel Orcs inhabit the citadel, cultivating and augmenting their dark arts.

The first three wings are: Ramparts for levels 60-62, Blood Furnace for levels 61-63, and the Shattered Halls for level 70. In the last wing, players will be able to experience a small raid encounter similar to Onyxia, in which they’ll face the Pit Lord Magtheridon (of Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne infamy) within his lair.

Heroic Dungeon-Difficulty Feature
Another exciting aspect of the expansion is the new Heroic dungeon-difficulty feature, which will let you experience many of the expansion dungeons in two different modes. One mode will be the normal version, and the second mode, Heroic, will boost the difficulty of the dungeon. The additional risks that players take on at the higher difficulty setting will also come with the opportunity to gain greater rewards.

The challenges that await players inside of a dungeon set to Heroic difficulty will go beyond just increased hit points and attack power for the creatures inside. Enemies will also have extra abilities, making each encounter more tactically challenging. The rewards of course will scale up accordingly with the boost in difficulty. In order to unlock the Heroic level of a dungeon, players will need to be level 70 and achieve other objectives as well. More details on these prerequisites will be revealed at a later date.

While I’m on the topic of dungeons, I wanted to mention here that the Black Temple -- the dungeon intended to offer the most challenging encounters in the game -- is still deep in development and will be opened up for public testing after the expansion is released. It’s important to us to spend as much time as possible balancing and polishing the content in this dungeon before releasing it to players; it’s definitely not something we want to rush out the door just for the sake of meeting a deadline. We look forward to sharing more information and offering some glimpses of the Black Temple content in the weeks ahead... and then opening it up to Burning Crusade players on the test realms once they’ve had a chance to level to 70 and gear up in the other dungeons.
