Steady shot

This topic exists (or will in a sec) mainly becasue I'm bored at work.

What do you fellow hunters think of the new skill - steady shot? Help you in doing even more damage? Censerves mana?
Also - can you see any link between this skill usefulness and the speed of your ranged weapon?

Jusr write your thought if you wish, no need to go into details.

at the beta it did the same as my normal autoshot, not modified at all by +dmg to dazed targets
I was like: wtf why use mana on something that does similar dmg to autoshot... didn't find anything at the hunterforums about it either

It is very useful because it is in addition to your autoshot. If you time it properly (dependant on your weapon speed) it does not interfere with your normal shots and is cheaper (though slightly less effective then) arcane shot. Personally i think that properly mastered it can give a very significant DPS boost, especially over longer fights.

Im trying the talent that gives a chance for daze on normal shot (cant remember what its called off-hand), but it takes a bit of practice to get the steady shot off when the target is dazed for only 4 sec and you dont want to interfere with the timing of your normal shots.

I find steady shot very usefull, as it costs almost no mana and I do a fairly amount of dmg (considering the mana cost), ofc. arcane is more powerful, but costs more, same goes for multy shot and aimed, but aimed isn't all that mana consuming, just takes too long to cast:( maybe thats why its called aimed, but unlike other classes, we have no shot/ability that does over 3K dmg... infact, anywhere near it would mean you need insane amount of ap... but ok, if we did that, we would get instant aggro also and thats not good, I have a problem controling it now as it is with my crit specc.

At the moment we have Lithanor Rocking the dps with a simple combo of:

Autoshot-Steady-auto-steady and the line goes on. very mana efficient and very good dps.

(ofc with a 3.1 or higher bow/gun/Xbow you can weave in 2 Steady shots).

There might be higher damage in Multi-Arcane-Auto-Steady(multi/arcane on CD)-Auto-Multi-Arcane. but the mana efficiency is down the drain smile


It only takes 1 sentence to take away a big guys ego "is it in"

Like tanko points out, a hunter can be up there in the big leagues easy with a good rotation and decent gear.

But guess its a matter of preference.

and to palma: Hunters (or huntards if you want) is built around nice and steady damage instead of the big numbers. any decent hunter will dish out lots of damage in a short while, but none of the 3k+ big numbers. But it also depends on your gear and your specc ofc smile
