Blizzcon: Paladin judgement day

atleast for retripaladins smile
I'm playing mage now, but even though, I'm still excited over what happens to paladins next.
Rename paladin cleric, and make paladin a hero class IMO (warrior hero class), as it really is supposed to be.

YES I'M EXCITED AS HELL!

No, I'm so excited I changed my name over blizzcon tongue
I'm indeed very excited about magenews too, but heck, I've played paladin like 6.5 times longer than mage (135days vs 20days)

Re: Blizzcon: Paladin judgement day

well, it's true... Paladin was the warrior hero class according to lore, only the best knights could train as paladins. But it wouldn't be too hard to imagine how overpowered it would have been if paladins outdid warriors in every single aspect of this game, unless they were a upgrade to already lvl 80 warriors who wanted to step to the next level smile

Re: Blizzcon: Paladin judgement day

If palas can become deathknights, jee wiz what could other classes become? I know I said I'd stop WoW at the coming of the next expansion but I really have to review those words ><

Hero Classes
Hero Classes won't be released all at once because of balancing issues. They're classic Warcraft 3 characters with an "epic feel" (something really different than the ordinary)

The hero class will be created on a new character slot once you completed the quest, you won't lose your original character.

Death Knight

    * The current plan is to have the class available for all races.
    * Designed to fullfill both tanking and DPS roles
    * Can tank using 2H weapons or by Dual-Wielding, no need for shields.
    * Rather than using rage, energy, or mana, Death Knights have a special "rune sword" displayed beneath their health bar, onto which the player                               can etch six different runes (choose between Frost, Blood, and Unholy).
    * Rune resource system. Three rune schools: Blood runes, frost, and unholy runes. All DK spells and abilities will use these different runes in some combo. DKs carve these runes into their weapon-- done anytime outside of combat.
    * Character portrait has six runes in place of the mana bar (and a special circle around the icon, probably for Hero class). These runes are consume as your spells use them-- they deactivate and then reactivate over time, so if you have two frost and four blood runes, you get that much to use as spells and abilities. We have plans for mechanics that allow you to change one resource type on the fly-- like Warlock's Life Tap (Health=mana).
    * Showing a DK with six Unholy runes chosen-- hopefully that won't happen, since players should want to use all the rune abilities. Runes are on cooldowns modified by talents and attributes-- "Death Strike" might be a spell that refreshes runes, or spells might consume more than one rune at a time. By the way, the graphic showed was an Orc Death Knight.
    * What races for DK? Our current plan is for all of them to be available. ("Gnome Death Knights ftw" from the audience)
    * Death Knight spells and abilities are a mix of both caster and melee. Not standing back and casting, but using non-melee spells and abilities. In your face, beating your head in, and using a spell called "Army of the Dead."
    * Death Knights like bladed weapons, showing off big axes and swords-- Runeswords and Runeaxes. Wears Plate armor, showing concept art-- looks like Rogue/Warrior/Warlock all had a baby.

Unholy Embrace
Instant Cast. 5 min cooldown.
Target is embraced by a silhouette of darkness for 6 seconds, corrupting any healing spells and effects cast upon or currently affecting the target to cause damage for 50% of their healing potential instead of restoring health. Any damage shields cast upon or currently affecting the target will also be instantly consumed, dealing 50% of their absorption potential in damage. Once afflicted with Unholy Embrace, the target cannot be afflicted with Unholy Embrace again for 1 minute.

So far all races can be death knights, and it's a completely new class, won't replace or take over from your old one.

Incoming whine posts from all healers that do arena. This is, like, an instagib of any pure healer in arena.

Well, the blizzcon version of the new expansion is still an early alpha build that likely hasn't been tuned and balanced properly yet, so it might get changed alot before the expansion gets released for purchase. But yes, atm it's very overpowered.

Re: Blizzcon: Paladin judgement day

Rumors say 6sec Crusader Strike, and Vengeance lasts 30seconds instead of 15.... Not enough to fix retribution, but it's a start.
