Slacy's computer is having trouble with running ventrilo and having wow or even the forum open at the same time. She has never had any trouble before. Even when she is only having ventrilo open she sometimes sound like a robot and she says that we also sounds a bit funny.
Her computer should be able to run both do anyone know what might cause her computer to fuck up like this?

Windows Vista?
Have she tried to uninstall it and see if the problem is still there? or maybe try to reinstall it
Also. are you sure she downloaded the right version? Slacy ask Kenneth what kind of windows you're using normal or 64bit (Windows i386 - 32bit prolly)

Ventrilo works nicely with Vista, had no problems. Just be sure to download right version like Buzzy said.

Hmm ye try updating your sound driver
Oh and btw. regarding the sounds issues. Yes people sounds different on Vent then on TS. Vent is the "real" voices while TS tends to fuck them up a bit so to speak (How I experienced it)

Ye we are not that stupid. But it wasn't just that she sounded more like a robot then that text speaker thing does.

Hmm in that case I would follow Apox's link
Q: Everyone hear's me as a "robotic" voice.
If you are using a Hercules or Philips sound card then this is most likely the problem. Usually associated with any sound card that uses the Crystal CS4630 chipset.
This is a well known problem and is systemic to these brands of boards / chipset. However, these companies do not seem to forthcoming with a solution. Your options are:
1) Dump these cards and get a SB Live/Audigy or a TB Santa Cruz.
2) Try using a USB based microphone.
3) Enable any onboard sound and use it for your microphone input.
4) In setup enable the "Use DirectSound for input device". This might help.
Hercules owners should also consider installing the latest 4101 or higher drivers. These drivers were reported on the support forum to have fixed one persons sound problems. Guess it can't hurt to try.
