Re: druids in 3.0 and forward

I think I will use this build for leveling, slowly turning it into this build. A balance between tanking and damage; as I most likely will tank all the lower level instances and do damage when I solo quests.

Re: druids in 3.0 and forward

thats a spec that focus on mangle spam?

shredding attacks are just to good to pass up imo.

Pounce, mangle, shred and a FB or mangle to finish up the mob.

also, master shapeshifter isnt _that_ good, that it should eliminate talents from the feral tree

Re: druids in 3.0 and forward

Shred is the highest damage skill, yes, but I have a habit of getting 2-3 mobs on me while I solo, so I prefer mange spam. I also often dont bother going stealth between mobs. and instead just pull with FF. When it comes to MS, I might agree, 4% dmg /4% crit is nice; but then it will take 2 (/ 5!) more levels before I get the cool berserk spell. If I drop MS, then I think I will drop NS as well since the new imp leader of the pack should do the trick.

Perhaps something like this instead, then I will get berserk the first time I ding big_smile. I guess I will change my mind 100 times before WotLK anyways tho tongue

Re: druids in 3.0 and forward

berserk will be changed alot, so hold your horses for the next build smile

about "farming multiple mobs". from experience i think it goes faster to just run to 1, dps it down and go for the next. With my gear, a mob usually goes down in less than 5 secs.
With our nerf to armor, you will take alot more dmg now, from multiple mobs in catform, so survival vise 1 mob at the time will also be wisest.

Re: druids in 3.0 and forward

did some testing today.

FFF is now trainable, and have been changed to the better. When you use it in bearform, you do dmg + threat with it, which is awsome.
Barskin is castable in forms. It still looks ugly and going through your head like before, but its a buff to tanks none the less (not to mention catform survival)
Survival instincts - new talent. 5 min CD and raises hp with 30% - usable in both cat and bear

shred and mangle have been changed.
old shred - new Shred
old Mangle - new Mangle

Uhh nice must have missed the part about FFF doing damage too, though it was only extra threat.

Mangle bear/cat don't give buff to shred/maul anymore.

Survival instincts is very nice, that and barskin change is very welcome when leveling close to trigger happy horde.

Haven't done so much testing on PTR, but did try some lvl 71 mobs, got 3 on me and killed them very fast without loosing much hp, so the boost in dps is noticeable.

Haven't really picked a lvl'ing build yet, still "alot" of changes/tweaking going on, but going for max damage and any talents that boost my survival in cat, putting in some tanking talents when/if there is any need for it in any of the leveling instances.

Cat mangle atleast seems to buff shred damage, you'll see if you check the new shred info there.

Re: druids in 3.0 and forward

the reason they changed mangle is, that warriors get a similar ability.

Re: druids in 3.0 and forward

its not like warriors get mangle, but they get some ability that does the same "30% on bleeds"
Imagine if that was up, preventing the mangle debuff. that would meen a huge nerf in druid dps.

this actually serves as a buff, since you can be lucky and dont need to keep up mangle that much anymore smile

Re: druids in 3.0 and forward

some changes in the trees now, so my old builds aint valid anymore.

two new suggestions smile:

5/0/56
3/0/58

If 3.0 was live today I would have specced the 3/0/58 I think

edit: lol, actually turned out to be the same even if some of the talents had changed tongue
