Raiding as demo

I'm considering to start my woltks raiding carier speced in demo.
Reasons are few, but mostly i do not have proper gear to spec destro (need much more crit).
This build will obviously deliver less dmg that destro, but what will give in return:

best hs for raid
10% of my spellpower for raid
much better survivality for me
mine crit and spellpower on not bad starting lvl
felguard (as stated by blizz, it will do like 1000dps raidbuffed, on later stage)

Rotation -
this is what i have to test, considering 2 options
CoA, Corruption and just a spam of SB (http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=IZbxIzsxMA0sguVoy0hV)
Or Coruption, Immolate, Incinerate spam (http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=IZbxIzsxMA0sguVoVchq)

What do you think? worth of try?

Re: Raiding as demo

It is a hassle to keep the felguard alive in some encounters as well as being on your toes to make sure it doesn't break ccs etc...other than that it is obvious that you will do lower dps than going destro..even if you have really low crit rating as you say..but in my opinion it still worth a try just because it is more fun to play than going destro. Oh, and without having done any theorycrafting on demo specs or anything..I would go for the Molten Core build.

Re: Raiding as demo

For what its worth i did ok numbers in SWP with shadowbolt / CoA / Corruption. The build will likely revolve around making the most of metahorphosis. Demonic pact is for sure very powerful. The most painful thing were fights where its just too hard / impossible to keep ze pet alive

Re: Raiding as demo

BTW I tried both destro and affi builds now heavily and affi is better dmg then destro, even if u fuck spell rotation from time to time. Especially affi is lot better if u dont have lets say 20% base crit from gear. Didnt try demon, but i have doubts about felguard surviving. I remember atleast 4 encounters in naxx, where even imp is dying fast and most encouters, your pet getting some kind of dmg that needs to be healed. And imp is 10 times easier to keep alive then felguard.

Re: Raiding as demo

Interesting.

Could you post your rotation as affli Glorf?

I was trying to dps as affli while lvling in outlands, but is was very hard to keep rotation. Shitloads of skills to use.

What do you think?

With glyph of corruption, siphon life and unstable affliction it may be worth to try.

Re: Raiding as demo

Basic rule with affi is to keep every possible dot up (even immolate) and casting haunt as fast after cd as possible. If u miss haunt, well its dps loss, but world will not end. Put SB between when u have time.
For your build. Try something around this one: http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=IfxRb0rAoVqocstZE00qM
Points to destro instead of demon. U will aim for 17-18 points in destro (full ruin + destro reach).
U dont need Fel concentration for raiding, cos u will get rarely hit. If u drain lifing, its not because u tanking something, but because u r low and healers are busy with MT. If u tanking something, someone fucked-up and possible wipe inc anyway. 1 point in erradiction is enough cos of 30 sec CD. And u deffinitely wanna have grim reach, because as far from danger u can be, u should be. There are options around this one (getting hit for destro and loosing reach/shadowburn for example).

As for glyphs. My best combo would be immolate, siphon life or CoA and corruption. UA glyph is actually bit useless, cos GCD is 1,5 sec. Which ofc go lower up to 1 sec with haste but so does UA cast. So getting this glyph is only good for PvP, not PvE (u may have 1,3 UA cast with 0 haste, but u have to wait for 1,5 GCD)

Re: Raiding as demo

Thanks smile

but are you sure that going ruin make sense if you only use immolate and sb from time to time?

Loosing improved fel armor, looks like big waste to me, also 10% of more stamina may be nice for survivality and mana regen. Hmm....

Re: Raiding as demo

SB will be still your main dmg (26%), rest is under 20%. And any build i ever tried was shit for PvE without Bane.

Re: Raiding as demo

Glorf, what about demon in affl? You're using Imp as mana battery on bosses and as dps on trashes?

Re: Raiding as demo

Imp is pretty good in surviving against bosses also. But most of the time, im just having him with me, looking smart, doing nothing, saving mana.
