The power of Renew.
I was taking a look at some combat parses from a progress guild and discovered extreme amount of Renew usage on one of the holy priests. It made me think. With Empowered Renew we can proc Surge of Light. The following Flash Heal will give Serendipity. After 3 of those we use Prayer of Healing. The goal is to dampen all damage with Renew on as many players as possible and to fix the rest with random Flash Heal and hasted Prayer of Healing. All while our Prayer of Mending is jumping around, giving random Surge of Light procs.
Raid healers might also want to coordinate their healing more with focus groups etc to reduce cross healing.
Another interesting thing about the priest was a part of the talent build. 5 points in Spell Warding.

There is a very steady stream of damage throughout the fight (with some off spikes) on the whole raid which I guess is nice for that kind of healing. (uncheck the tank / totals and check the box for any DPS/healer)

I absolutely love empowered renew. It was a lot of help for our 10 man Yogg kill imo. Not sure if it's as valuable with multiple holy priests though.

The reason I mention it is that the raid I looked at had 2 Restoration druids which usually kills any effective usage of Renew.
I personally use addons so that I can see very easily on a raid level who it is that is buffed with Renew. The idea is to first use Renew on those without it and then start on other players I personally don't have a Renew on. The damage on the raid are so big that I think that 2 Renew can heal effectively. The "danger" is that somone is always topping players up not with Renew, but with heavier tools.
Players with -2000 health is outside any danger of dieing suddenly so I think we can let our hots work on the target untill he is down to -4000 or so.
