Already posted this on the DR forums, but figured I'd post it here aswell:
Bought a ps3 slim roughly two months back and it has worked fine up to this point, when suddenly this happens. I get no signal whatsoever, and the screen just sort of flickers slowly. Tested all the cables with the hdmi switch and without, and none of them are defect.
Recorded the problem on my phone. As you can see the xbox works just fine, but when I connect the ps3, this happens...
Not sure if it's a common problem. I've been unable to find anyone with similar issues anyway. Anyone familiar with this? Is it likely to be fixable or do I need to return the ps3?

try holding down the power button , it should give a beep and another beep then . This resets the options etc so it might help .

Tried it, but even with video settings reset, there's still no image. Just the flicker.

no idea how you can update the console without any picture though.

Tried connecting it with a component cable and it seemed to work. Too bad there's no internet connection in the common area where the TV is, so that's a bit of a predicament. I guess that narrows it down to an issue with the hdmi port or any HD related component in the machine.
I looked at some of the changes for the 3.15 update. Seems like it's about 3 months old, and optional. Couldn't find anything about it that should affect anything in relation with HD connection.

now that you have vision you could try reset it to factory defaults , in system options , maybe it helps. worth a shot atleast

Alright problem fixed. Apparently the system had someone suddenly reset the video and audio setting (before I held down the button). Just needed to drag the machine and monitor all the way to the common area, connect the ps3 to a TV with composite cables, change the output to HDMI, swap cables and monitor, and accept the settings. No idea why the system suddenly did this. The composite cables were still wrapped in plastic this morning and I have never used anything but HDMI cables. I also have no clue why the screen was flickering rather than just staying completely black, as it "should". Ah well... Thanks for all the help, and sorry about the trouble.
