Re: Some interesting stuff about Disc

Looks like we have to get second disc to hc LK. How do you think our holy gear will do with disc in that particular fight Fairmont?

The cliques of artists and writers consist for the most part of a racket selling amusement to people who at all costs must be prevented from thinking themselves vulgar, and a conspiracy to call it not amusement but art. (Collingwood 1938: 90)

Re: Some interesting stuff about Disc

As Disc you ideally want items with only SP/Haste/Crit. But the only stat that scales with PW:S (which is by far the most used spell obviously) is SP. Which means that Holy gear is fine for optimizing PW:S.

Haste is only useful for Flash Heal and Penance.
Crit is only useful for Flash Heal, Penance, PoM and slightly for the glyph of PW:S (though this overheals most of the time when weaving PW:S on the raid prior to the damage)

Crit and Haste are both more less completely useless for PW:S. Crit only affects the glyph, and Haste is completely useless at current gear levels because you need around 4,7% Haste from gear to cap your PW:S with both Haste raid buffs (5% + 3%), 3/3 Enlightenment (6%) and obviously Borrowed Time (25%).

1.5/1.25/1.03/1.05/1.06/1.047 = 1.0 (GCD)

So in short, Holy gear is fine for the main purpose of Disc. The better the ilvl your gear is, the more SP it has and the more your PW:S absorbs for. Only thing that's important is that the trinkets really need to have SP. Any other trinkets are a waste.

Gemming is full SP always so in that regard the Holy way of gemming isn't optimal though.

And as they say in that little interview the coefficient for PW:S is really awesome.

Standard coefficient is 80.68%. You gain 40% extra from 5/5 Borrowed Time. Then you need to multiply it with 3/3 Improved PW:S (15%) and 5/5 Twin Disciplines + 2/2 Focused Power (5% + 4%). The last two are additive which is a long time bug at the moment. Normally they would behave like a multiplier instead.

1.2068*1.15*1.09 = ~1.51 absorbtion per SP

Re: Some interesting stuff about Disc

Another interesting thing is that Spellpower is not really all that awesome here (normal mode that is) surprisingly. The thing that is important is weaving PW:S on the entire raid everytime before Infest hits. Infest does not hit hard enough to break PW:S in the first place. Due to Rapture (% of manapool return when PW:S breaks) proccing on multiple shields breaking at the same time (normally it can only proc once every 12 secs) you have infinite mana when all the PW:S break at the same time.

Therefore Spellpower is not all that important because it will not break with Infest hitting anyway even with a lower amount of Spellpower. I could just switch to Int elixir and Int trinket and keep weaving PW:S on the raid the entire time without having to worry about mana.

The trick here is to not overwrite any PW:S still on the target (and not using PW:S on tanks due to the Rapture internal cd). When the second Infest hits the shields from the previous will break and multi-proc Rapture again.

The only disadvantage is that the second-Infest shields will not absorb the full amount. But there are still other raid healers who need something to do so it's not a big deal. Besides that you can reapply new shields instantly on the targets that still have Infest (the ones that didn't absorb completely).
