Gearscore and disconnect
I've just found an interesting blue post. It gave details on how they are changing part of the game's code (on server side), to limit the amount of querries sent etc etc. Long story short, what they are saying is that the way mods like Gearscore works at the moment might make you disconnect - each time you mouseover a player you client sends an additional data request causing extra traffic.
Yet another good reason not to use it.

Because gearscore makes people take gear not meant for them just because it has a higher item level so they can get into raids easier because they thus have a higher gear score. Gearscore is just an arbitrary number that measures the itemlevel of a person's gear, but it doesn't say anything about their skill, their stats, their gems or enchants, or anything in that vein of thought. You could have a 6k GS retard and a 4k GS pro, all gearscore does is tell you what level of gear they have, which is why it sucks flaming monkey ass.

nothing new in your posts, ofc gs only tells what lvl the items are, but its handy when you just want to glance at someones items, instead of study every item closely.
Nothing wrong with the addon, but sometimes people care a bit too much about the number. Its like SP for a caster, it tells a lot about how good the gear is, but you have to look at the other stats too if you want to get the full overview.

Gearscore is a mod from hell, mainly because it has been used in the wrong way. if we were to uninstall GS we could forget pugging on any char, "whats your GS" "dunno, dont use it, but i got good gear" "yeah right, bye"

I have a new requirement for ICC raids. You must have at least 500 deaths in there to be elidgible.

Ofc theres nothing wrong with the addon, its the people who misused it that gave it a bad name. When i think GS, it comes to my mind the retards that dont know how to use it or think that GS = how skilled you are, you know, all of the wotlk scrubs.

Gear expectations increase with the gear of the raid leaders. I for one do not blame anyone for wanting to play with equally geared players, and as their level increase so does their requirements. It's the lack of collective memory of how it was when we started that is the cause. I for one do not remember my gear level when I entered ICC the first time and I think everyone have lost the same knowledge. It's only naturall that requirements follow not the dungeon, but the average gear of a raider.

we could try to change the server though, if TEO went out publically, stated that we condem GS and its usage, and we all uninstall the damn mod, the server might actually follow suit
