Just gotta ask, is it fun?
Pretty fun if you like storydriven questing and instances. If you're the type that skip quest text and whatnot in wow you'll likely find the quest text in TOR boring too.
Did a 4man to the first flashpoint/instance The Esseles yesterday, and it was pretty fun, boarding an imperial ship that's ambushing the ship you're on.

I got my account activated yesterday and was just going to log on and do some levels with a bounty hunter ( which I had played to lvl 12 on beta before).
End result, couldn't get to bed but until 2am...
All in all it depends on what you like, if you couldn't care less about story and immersion then I swtor probably sucks.

I'm not mocking or laughing, asking for real - having read what you guys are writing about the importance of storydriven questing, what happens once you reach the level cap (if that's even possible) or you run out of quests? I suppose, my question is - what is the end game about?

Sigh, I wished this game was really really awesome, but sadly it's not, after the initial awesomeness wears off, it's really just crap.
Way too linear, plus all the maps are very "pathy", like just a main road, and you can't stray from that at all. You just run from A to B, doing quests along the way, then move on to the next world.
Also, it doesn't feel like a MMO at all, the world doesn't feel alive. It's basically a singleplayer game with chat and party functions.
I don't see myself playing past the first 30 days, sadly, cause I really had high hopes for this game, seeing as I loved Star Wars galaxies (even though it was flawed like hell)

I kinda felt the same when I tried it today, but then again that was only the starting area... wondering how end-game will be like.
Still not convinced if I'm gonna buy it or not...

Yeah this is my lvl 16 perspective... Starting zone and coruscant are exactly the same in linearity, I just hope it open up later on, cause then it might be worth it.
The combat is very fun though. Space Combat is not.
Also one more thing I'm really not fond of; Even if you're on the same server, you can be in a different instance of a zone. Like Coruscant 1, Coruscant 2 etc.
Even if you can switch between them, it kinda breaks the immersion.

WoW is linear in going from quest hub to quest hub too, even more so after the levelling update from 1-60 with cata. As for the various world "instances" it's probably to balance it out, quest mob wise and server load wise. On both Taris and Nar Shaddaa, the 2 worlds after coruscant you get to, I didn't see multiple instances, even with 100-150 people.
On Taris you can choose between two ways round the planet, but it's a big planet, and just when you think you're done, you get thrown a bonus quest series. Nar shaddaa was better, mainly because you should get your speeder bike there. That's quite expensive tho, 40k credits for training and 8k for the speeder. Taris does have just one or two quest hubs per map, with the main road pretty much heading directly out of the map as soon as it comes into the map, you'll be heading outside the main path alot at least.

Installing the game as i write this. What server are we setting up TEO?

Seems we're all over the place. Me and my brother is playing republic on Tython Academy... it was the only pvp server without queues as we started.
Probably won't be playing much longer though, it's getting a tad boring.

The Shadow Runner server (pvp ofcourse), Sith Inquisitor called Raion. Gimme a shout if you see me.

This. I dont even pay attention to my level so much, I just wanna get that sonofabitch who STOLE MY GODDAMNED SHIP."
Stolen from /. - very much to the point!

I really can't agree on that. Too much talk, too little loot and action.
As I said, it's a very story driven questing experience. If you don't like mass effect and dragon age, odds are you won't like TOR either.

I loved both mass effect and dragon's age, but for some reason, it's totally uninteresting in SWTOR. Probably because in an MMO, I like to play in a party, and this has to be the most unfriendly party mechanics ever.

Group conversation anyone ? That was epic experience.
Played Flashpoint through yesterday and it was a blast.

I have played together with Sampsa in Basilisk Droid, republic side. What comes to ui, it's not very party friendly but i disagree with Apox otherwise. This game got way more party content during leveling if compared to wow and so far it has give me nice tickles while getting higher. I hitted 25 tonite and game feels pretty good, most likely not anything like wow killer but i'm sure it will be fairly succesfull mmorpg too.
I don't know is it only me, but i have found it really odd that eventhough i'm level 25 i have not seen any sith player in game world yet. Only in warzones. Feels pretty pointless to even play on pvp server when you never see players of opposite side.

Few screenshots of my character. Yes the quality is kinda crap, since I turned it down while running WoW and TOR at the same time when I took these.

I'm currently playing on Hex Droid with Ali G, Furaxs and Worgz (who's already lvl 50 ofc, I'm only lvl 35 Sith Warrior - Marauder), and I must say, that this game is awesome as hell, eventhough it still have a lot of flaws.
To answer your question about end game content, Lamme. It becomes more like wow in the end. With end game raids and instances. and if you want more roleplaying, you can romance with your commanions, if you haven't done that already.

Seems like some classes even can marry their companions, like vette and others.

I'm torn on TOR. I kinda want to play it because it's Star Wars, but I don't really have time to do the whole MMO again. Is it worth getting as a single player?
Offline
As a single player if you like masseffect, kotor, dragon age etc then I would say so. Playing through the different stories on both sides will take quite some time still ( after that just don't resub).

While there are some group quests, and instances here and there, it feels heavily like it could just as well have been a single player game.

well it is koToR gone online, right? and if you look at it that way you're probably going to love it.. D:
Going to get my key on saturday or monday and get in the game.. Should I head to Hex Droid or Basilisk Droid or Shadow Runner or which?... Need my TEO fix!
Oh and hey peeps ^^

Its a shame we didn't start a TEO guild in some specific server. Though everyone wanted to be on a different side of the force, so creating TEO would be hard.
I'm levelling easy and enjoying my Inquisitor. Just dinged level 41. The story is just awesome, instances aswell. Inquisitor assassin is like warlock/rogue combo. You've got lots of ranged dots and ways to improve them and you also have stealth, vanish and lots of melee moves to go with the dots. And yeah, double bladed sabers! <3 the game.
