Banned on account

So i have been Banned since Monday's Morning coz they figured im playing from iran and since most of ppl that are doing the same had to use proxies to pass filteres, they decided to BAN Accounts of those countries. So fair...
Made 3 tickets and got this :

This is the latest response from Customer Support:
    Thank you for your inquiry.

Blizzard Customer Support channels are not in a position to assist this account with any technical or account issues through the Support Site.
-------------------------
And after i Mailed their support,i got this reply:

Thanks for your contact.

Blizzard Entertainment is legally restricted from doing business in certain countries, including Iran and Syria.  As a result, our Battle.net website and games do not permit connection from those countries.  If you had a recurring subscription, it has been removed.
Blizzard is required to take these steps to comply with U.S Law.  This also prevents us from providing any refunds, credits, transfers, or other service options to accounts in these countries.
We appreciate your understanding on this matter.  As we have no other information to provide, additional inquiries related to this matter may not receive a response.
Regards,

Blizzard Customer Support

i changed my country on my account again to try it out that way, hope it works,if not ,then there is no way....

Love you all

Re: Banned on account

I can understand the tradeblock with Iran, but this is just a game, shouldn't have any impact.

I'm sure the US would benefit more from Iran becoming a nation of nerds and gamers, than continuing building up a hate towards everything western.

I hope blizzard will apply for an exception since that seems rather possible to get if the US statesman who mentioned it is right,
that they do not care about games and they shouldn't.

Grow a pair of balls and break international trading restrictions? You do realize the caliber of consequences of that, right? big_smile

Sure i do, but it says in the agreement that they wont allow access from certain countries, but i dont see why they cant see through the fingers if you find a loophole in the rules.
I mean, a ban seems unnecessary when you can use proxies to crcuit them. is it against the EULA to use proxies? If so, yea sure i can see why they banned. But afaik that's not illegal.

Re: Banned on account

Not sure had a look at the US ToS may be the same in EU

No Violation of Laws.
You agree that you will not, in connection with your use of a Game client or the Service, violate any applicable law or regulation.

The fact that Auriel was connecting to the game he was breaking the law

Re: Banned on account

Then my question whould be: Is Auriel at risk for something more than just a ban since he broke an actualy law?

In this case Blizzard sort of broke the law by selling a service to an Iranian citizen. I don't think US law care much about what kind of laws Auriel might have broken in his own country. I hope he wont loose a hand (a little bit prejudiced, sorry :p). I don't think Auriel will run into any problems except loosing the accounts he has been using, but loosing once account every now and again probably feels like a sever punishment in itself.

The question is if blizzard really broke the law by doing business with them earlier. The US have been tightening their laws  and restrictions against iran and others over the past few months, due to the iranian nuclear program, even though iran claims that they're only doing it to generate power, and not make nukes. It could be that these newest actions were what required blizzard to restrict access, and they didn't have to do it before.

Re: Banned on account

I didnt break any rules actually,And no there is no Punishment for me out here.but sadly being unable to a game that i spent time for quite some time and bounds i had,is a punishment itself. And for what kind of law breaking?Paying a company for over 5years legally and suddenly they figure that they earned enough money so they can just drop us all all of a sudden?i dont call that breaking the law at my side.

Re: Banned on account

You can't blame Blizzard either though. These are laws put in place that they dislike just as much as you do. I'm sure they would have preferred a situation where they could continue to lay claim on your money.
