R14 weapons and TBC
just wondering, how long will the R14 weapon remain "the best" or close to the best?

65-66
At 65, everyone gets a quest to get THE weapon. Its around this level where you really start to see the changes in gear and skills. At 66, you can enter some really great instances, including the first part of caverns, wich also holds amazing items far superior to the current non-naxx items.

what happens at level 66? and are they a lot better or like a few dps better? one more question, are there axes / polearms? 
edit: gah never mind, im sure you edited that stuff in but it doesnt say anything.

At lvl 65 you can get a quest where this is one of the rewards: Honed Voidaxe
This quest is a fairly easy 5-man outdoor event, beat a series of 7(?) bosses and get the axe.
At lvl 67 you can get a quest where this is one of the rewards: Therokk's Quill
This is a typical 5-man instancequest, enter instance, kill all the bosses inside and get the polearm.
Last boss in this instance can also drop this: Crow Wing Reaper
Theres also this: Halaani Claymore, which you can buy from a vendor and use at lvl 66.

I once participated in a talent competition. I lost because the judges did not realize that my secret talent was losing in talent competitions.
