Hey,
Any of You specced for PvP nowadays? Is the "pro" pvp still dominated by elemental frost, or are there some other viable combos? I'm thinking of respeccing to my favourite 20/41/0 spec, or 17/44/0, because pom pyro is imba, but little bit boring.

with the 2-part t4 set bonus frost might be worth considering

i wanna try this build out when i get more gold http://www.wow-europe.com/en/info/basic … 5000000000
41 fire permafrost and shatter
although i dont know frost nova works with crits breaking it now so might actually drop 3 points from shatter into frostbite or 2 points into arctic reach

frost nova breaks after the target takes ~ 1500-1600 dmg, anything more than this amount will cause it to break.
example:
for fire mages a scorch -> fireball would be better than a fireball -> scorch, since the scorch wouldn't brake the frost nova but the fireball might.
another good way for testing this is to fn a mob and use your ice lance. notice that when u crit for over 1500-1600 dmg, the fn breaks.
the damage "cap" on fn applies to the entire grp/raid so if a mage frost nova a mob and ppl dps it, the fn will break when the mob have recieved a combined amount of damage equal to 1500-1600

I miss pwning people with PoM pyros :'(

Aye, but think how much better will it be taking those bigass POM pyros away with a single grounding totem and continuing by squarely pwning the mage with a windfury or lightning bolt critstreak to the face? ^^

Aye, but think how much better is casting ice lance first, and remembering the mage's pom pyro golden rule:
If You fight against a mage (IB possible!) or a shaman (grounding totem!), always use pom pyro from a very close distance so he cant react.
BTW what's the grounding totem's "range"? It doesnt protect your party members too, does it?

This is why playing my mage to 60 has come in handy.. gives quite some insight as to when a mage might use it ^^
And on another point grounding totem protects all party members _in 40 yards_ (talented. 30 without talents) from one spell per 10 seconds (dots and debuffs and fears and the like). DD spells kill it but others are just sucked into it. One aspect of this is to suck to itself the effect of a hunters freezing trap Damn I loved that when I was melee spec. While killing a hunter and see him laying a trap on your path (bummer for other classes) just put down a grounding totem while running and run right over the trap => no effect and you're in the hunters face ^^ I can imagine CoS from rogues to be used something like this against hunters
As a tip for our mages fighting against shamen. When you see a shaman up against you, you can even get ready and use PoM. But wait for him to lay down a grounding totem and kill it right out with fire blast for example. (wont spend PoM) And then fire away on your Pyro. And if the grounding totem is used for that, it can also prevent You from frost novaing the shaman.

Hmm.. another tip, remember to dispel any earth shields you come across priests theyre magic. But thats good to know actually. I guess ill be spamming purge with mages too from here on than just against priests and paladins. (oh how I love purging a priest / mage shield 0,5-1 second after it has been put up)

It has come to my attention that the groundingtotem has way shorter range than other totems, it doesn't say in the tooltip, but from personal experiences so far, I'd say around 10 yards.
Still imba if used correctly though.

grounding doesn't help if the bolt is already on its way though.

I'll repeat. If a mage sees a shaman, then he should start spamming icelance until all the totemz are down - which happens after 3 seconds max. Fast wand can be handy, too, but people (including me) dont have wand attack hotkeyed.

You'll need to spamfear me noob, I have shadow res racial!
DB effect, 3 second disorient, icelance, instant cast, polymorph 1.5 second cast, you still have a spare second left even if you destroyed the grounding totem.
I was being serious Xenana warrior princess.
