then how can a shaman stay OOC even if the tank gets attacked by a mob, seeing as any threat would put you to combat, no?

Well,
healing, tanking in raid, is a chellenge.
Dps is job for nuubs ^^
Sinister, Sinister, Sinister, Eviserate, Sinister, Sinister, Vanish, Sinister.........
Fireball, Fireball, Fireball, Invisible, Fireball, Fireball.......
Belgathor, keeping Lamme Warr alive is imba job since i cannot force him to pull mobs back instead of tank them when they stands after a charge
Well i have to say that singel target tanking with a warrior has to be just about the easiest thing in WOW. Multiple targets is hard, but single target is just too easy.... and even more so after devastate.

Well : short legs = cant run back fast
Anyway, DM are nice diagnostic tool, nothing more. Where position on KTM is important for raid performance, DM is not. Racing your way up on DM might kill you due to agrro or make you loos all your mana while spam healing. Just play smart and obsserve what is needed atm in the raid.
Baloth your healing is ok, dont worry. Lamme died because we wanted to kill him. We could both heal him up but come on, that small squicky gnome running and saying hes so powerfull. He had to die

Depends Amra - sometimes it is very easy like on Moroes - sometimes it is not so funny like on Nightbane (w/o fearward) where you need skilled tank to do it.
And depends what you think by word "tanking". Im talking about minimize dmg you are taking by all possible way, and maximize aggro generation same time.
Tanking have a lot of aspects - pulls, intercept, positioning, aggro generation, mitigation, tanking several targets, interrupts, tanks swap, etc.
+1 specific build ussless for anything else but tanking.
Damn i thought it's so hard and you just told me its easest thing in game. Im going reroll rogue

A good tank thinks about this, but way too many warriors thinks its all about aggro..
besides, the tbc encounters seems to be challenging for everyone. with movement and varied roles. it's not usual anymore to be able to stand still and spamheal or nuke. and very few encounters have a boss that is single-phased, so the tank can simply build aggro and dont worry about anything else.

To reach a top level of .. anything really, will always be hard, but commeon: Single target tanking and single target dps are both pretty easy. If you just spam sinister strike you will ofc do dmg, but the top dps lies in the little things. And every warrior with prot build can tank a boss, but ofc some do it better.

"Kashtan: lol I thought you were really gonna let him die there, I even went in bearform to take over tanking"
I like lamme, he's funny and he tries to mess with your mind, sometimes it even works but I guess I play along with that game and make him feel the same way but still
GNOMES MUST DIE!

Gnomes never die no matter what. It's the spirit that counts.
On a side note - Belg, Kashtan, come to think about - we were pretty much going rpg-server way, wouldn't you say?

I tried RP, I got owned in LFG channel for looking for a group for wailing caverns in character.
