"We're planning to shrink the min range on ranged attacks to reduce or eliminate the "dead zone". The only point to the dead zone was to ensure the min range on ranged weapons was enough such that ranged weapon attacks wouldn't be used while also being melee'd (at least by mobs... players have a bit of slush built in)."

Hunters
* There is now a Mortal Strike effect (Healing done on the target reduced by 50%, Duration 10 seconds) on Aimed Shot. This is a physical effect.
* The min range to shot has been reduced from 8 yards to 4 yards. The "dead zone" is now pretty much removed.
This is currently on the PTR.

Sounds very promissing. No more mages standing just out of melee reach and just in the dead zone.
Additionally, now in tight spaces in dungeoness one might aswell attack, wooo

call me an old sport, but somehow I do not fancy the PTR stuff other than 'MS shot' which makes a lot fo sense.

whats the proc rate? 10% chance?
changes dont sound to bad. i agree with lamme tho , being a skilled hunter requires having to get round the dead zone problem with other skills (wing clip scatter shot) its all part and parcel of our class

100%?

The Mortal Strike effect applied while aimedshotting ain't that imba as it sounds, unless they lower the cast time on Aimed shot. Currently It's 3,5sec. So It's very easy to interupt, and besides when does a hunter even have time to stand still without getting attacked for 3,5secs during an arena match?

rarely, that's what I like about this idea, no push-to-win buttons\mechanics, really requires some planning.
on a sidenote: give poisons for arrows so that we can choose between some options.

I think they are implanting the mortal strike effect for an upcoming PvE event, rather than for PvP tbh. Would make more sense.

not really, seeing as the same result can be achieved by a rogue way easier in 25 man raid.

not if its immune to poisons ^^

And not if it's an healer bitch who teleports up high some place to heal or something.

priest-mage-lol!
both of you are right though I guess - the boss we're at in SSC could be an example - the shaman uses poison removing totem if I'm not mistaken. and a ms-warrior ain't always there.
so, yes, you might be right.
