Its not about not beeing, weak - paladins are eaten alive by good casters, and it SHOULD be that way.
However, the way the paladin has gone our base ability beeing out biggest liability (yes our OP shield) is kinda wrong.
Lets look at it: Mages got a SIMILAR kind of shield known as Iceblock. Alltough they can`t do shit, can`t take damage, but they _CAN_ be healed while in it.
Warlocks got their own nifty little shield, when that pops if they got their voidwalker up (then down), you know you will be feared to kingdom come and have more dots than hairs on your head on you in 1 second. (Yes I know its a bit over the line, but sure feels like it some times).
Now lets put it into perspective. Our shield is dispellable (any decent priest in PVP would rid you of it ASAP, atleast in arenas). AW is the #1 spell for mages to spellsteal. All our spells is viable to 1 well placed kick, pummel or counterspell.
Now with this stealth nerf (why on earth havent blizzard learned some way to implement in patch notes possible solutions, like for instance, say they want to try out the following on the PTR but don`t know if its going to be implemented ingame?) it would have gotten over the top, even the mage you had done BoP on would have 15% less damage for 1 min. when does a paladin BoP a mage? for heavy AOE and its not restricted to alliance anymore!.
I am glad they changed it back, but I still wonder what angle they will pick on next, taking the nerfbat on everything will cause the game to decline in the end, if 1 class is too overpowered, the other classes should be buffed to match it, or some other game mechanic altered to make it as fair as POSSIBLE.
Its at this part blizzard fails, and in my opinion they have been since they started the lets buff 1 class each patch. Where one class had supremacy until the next patch came along.
In patch 2.0.1 Paladins once again got the short end of the stick, we got a "former push" release of CS and Venegance, making us want it that way, why couldn`t it have been done the right way from the start at this point? instead of announcing a nerf the same day the patch got released?
Its not the biggest mistakes in itself, but when it just keeps on adding itself to the pile, you will at one point get enough.
But that should be enough QQ for atleast a few hours!

basically: get over your short commings and start enjoying the game. Else there is no point in playing at all.
I will, that's why I'm not playing paladin, cause it's the only class I know of that only have 2 talent trees, namely Holy and Prot. Retribution is not an option at all anylonger.
1 for you then, since you _wont_ even try the prot tree even though it rocks..
the prot tree is basically one of the most balanced talent trees paladins have atm, and is actually the reason why blizzard wanted the nerf. if you start a bossfight with AW on you, you basically own the hate (or aggrolist if you wish) the 20 seconds you have AW. And then you can just continue to build aggro with your spells and abilities (and you will never go oom thanks to our imba mana when healed ability - yes I forgot the name on it now )
If you get a crushing blow for instance, and you know a rogue is #2 on aggrolist you can DS, let the rogue evasiontank and you get healed to full, remove DS then taunt back and keep on doing it like you did.
Now that part I agree MAY need a slight alteration but the stealth nerf they tried to implement? I do not agree with the way things were done.

contradicting yourself a bit here. casters are our weakness, we are easiliy kited.
but don't think casters are allmighty because of this fact.
((ask any mage and im sure they will have some stories about classes they have a very hard time with (as i remember from my time i couldnt beat druids some how back then) ))
It would be just wrong for one class to be able to easily beat every other class.

How am I contradicting myself? I state first that paladins are ment to be asswhopped by casters.
And then explain why I think our shield is our biggest liability when other classes have something almost as powerful and still beeing our "nemesises" ingame.
I guess its all about angles though, I don`t expect to be killing everything I see with my paladin, but I do atleast want to have the game actually have some kind of "rule" instead of what it is atm, rock, paper and scissors and then you have druids and warlocks atm :-p

Well, i dont understand what blizzard wanted with the nerf, they claim we have "to high burst dps" and to counter that they buff our 30% dmg increasing skill to 50% of the old duration? WTF?

I'm pulling my ass out of this discussion while i still can
I suppose it indeed all is about PoV.
I don't want to be a asswhooper, I want to be the guy keeping the asswhoopers up, a vital position in any pvp situation. I can also understand dissapointment if you do expect to be that juggernaut, since we're hardly able of doing serious controlled dps.
its all about point of view, and in mine, paladins are fine

Never said the word juggernaut did I? did I say paladins have too little dps? I pointed out a blizzard error when it comes to Crusader Strike and Venegance.
it was only short periods I was retri, and tbh, retripaladins is a wannabe warrior, i`d rather go holy and pew pew holy shock or prot and make rogues giggle when they hit me for like 5 damage a hit :p
However, my part as a paladin is standing behind and keeping people alive, and I know I am good at it, hence why casters have to be our enemies, since melees gets owned pretty easily :-p
What I dislike I have said enough, just wanted to pull your dutch beard some more!

hehe, i wasn't commenting on you specific, i just know there are alot of paladins out there wanting to be king of the killing blow boards

and they made it share cooldown with divine shield, meaning: Use divine shield and you can't use avenging wrath or divine shield for 5 mins.. Use avenging wrath and you can't use avenging wrath or divine shield for 5mins... That's a HUGE nerf considering AW has 3min CD now, and doesn't share CD with DS.

Nah, lets make paladins unkillable and overpowered, thats would make the game fun
funny how you of all people should understand, but I guess playing a mage and having no problems in the world kinda does that to you.
My mage is weaker, I always "look over my shoulder" when playing the mage, with the paladin I wasnt affraid of anything.
Try leveling the mage to 70, and see how strong it is, I think you will be suprised to see how well the paladin is compared.
I totally agree with denatus, the paladin class is not to be underestimated like we see people do right here... I witnessed it's potential first hand and I agree I majorly misused the given spells to get as much damage on my target as possible but who the hell cares, it worked and getting 3 1.2k crits in a row for 75%+ of all battles is just fucking imba. Oh and let's not mention that all happens in 2 to 3 seconds (that's one fireball for mages, nerf).

One more thing while we're at it... I laughed my ass of on this one: Paladins have been begging on their knees and whining their asses of to get rid of the silly mana/5 stats on our tanking sets, since we don't need manaregen at all when getting healed.
This is blizzards response to the requests, updated tier4 tanking set on test realm:
Old Justicar Chestguard
1329 Armor
+64 Stamina
+30 Intellect
+4 Agility
Equip: Increases defense rating by 31.
Equip: Increases damage and healing done by magical spells and effects by up to 22.
Equip: Restores 5 mana per 5 sec.
New Justicar Chestguard
1329 Armor
+66 Stamina (+2)
+31 Intellect (+1)
+4 Agility
Equip: Increases defense rating by 23. (-8)
Equip: Increases damage and healing done by magical spells and effects by up to 22.
Equip: Restores 8 mana per 5 sec. (+3)
Old Justicar Legguards

Equip: Increases defense rating by 30.
Equip: Increases damage and healing done by magical spells and effects by up to 25.

Allow me to quote one of the pallies on the forums
Less defense more mana regen?
What are they, retarded? SERIOUSLY?
Like, I can't even grasp the kind of thought that was going through their mind. It's a RAID TANKING SET.

haha i definitly agree on you with that one apox, for a tanking set mp/5 is pretty damned retarded. and 'updating' it by decreasing important stats, and increasing useless sets is pretty idiotic. :-s

Hahaha, it's like, when you have a laughing fit and you keep repeating the sentence that made you laugh in the first place, just with a higher and more squeeky voice and then burst into more laughter.
"They dont want mana regen, let's give them more and see what they say, hahaha"
"Look their getting angry, hahaha"
"Hey Ted, look what this one wrote, he thinks we're the retared ones, haha"
I can so play that act out in my head and have a good laugh, haha, when is the madness going to stop..

I certainly cant kill a paladin 1on1, and i consider myself as an avarage skilled warrior.

A fury warrior is easier to kill than an MS warrior, the MS skill in itself is so imba its insane! :-p
