Choo choo!

We trained the boss (see what I did there?!) for a bit, had a blast in the process and eventually killed the boss dead.

Operator ThogarGood, good fun, shame it is already done. Maidens next on the menu, however before we get to that, there will likely be a wee bit of a downtime due Eastern.

More bosses like Operator Thogar please!

A bridge too far

Kromog has a reputation. A well earned reputation for putting dps to a test. And indeed so, having tried him few times after our somewhat surprising Gruul kill, things did not exactly look super-optimistic. We thought we had a pretty solid routine sorted out as far as damage cooldowns went. That got put to a test quickly and…

WoWScrnShot_032215_215550…it turned out we were not too wrong on that. Some fine-tuning, some trickery with positions and things started to look positive. Again though, the kill came as a surprise, with the both tanks dead for the last few percents of the fight.

First few pulls of Thogar, commonly referred to as the train-boss, show that it is simply a very fun encounter. Good stuff.

Gruul grilled

We knew things were heading in the right direction at Gruul, however it did not seem like we had the kill just around the corner. To our surprise one more reset of mythic gear proved to be all we needed. With the assignments set up carefully and a few people new to the fight we were about to get started with some solid attempts.

WoWScrnShot_031915_210424It turned out all we needed was a grand total of two pulls. Truth being told, we were not exactly prepared for that and so we spent the rest of the raid killing the bosses we have already slain previously. The very first few pulls on the infamous bridge keeper, Kromog, suggest we will need every last bit of gear possible.

Protection from what Tony, zi Germans?

Lovely, lovely, lovely!

It is just too much fun to get stomped to death or get burned by a lava-hot pop-tart. Now needless to say the kill could have come earlier with some decent attempts ending up in major panic and silly deaths, but oh well, a style is a style!

Hans'gar and FranzokSheer stubbornness and gnome power of will got us this kill really. It was not only famous last pull syndrom, it was also an extra pull, past the usual raid time, just so that “we can say we did all we could”. And so we did! Only a handful of people left alive at the very end, yet that was enough to get the job done. Rumor has it the bosses in fact dropped dead at the site of the head-gnome’s latest transmog, but that cannot be right, now can it? Can it?!

And all that in a reset where we really did not start well. Like, not well at all! What’s done is done though, three down, two of the rather simple ones left, then it gets a tad harder. We can’t wait!

Rollin’ rollin’ rollin’

To a little bit of our surprise, we have another first kill to share this reset. We knew Oregorger would be a tad of a nerve-wrecking boss for us. It just had to happen that some people would refuse to dodge him rolling and take it head on. Luckily we all got the idea on our first raid at him and with a little bit more time we surely would have scored a kill there.

Eventually we did run out of time though, but we were back at it the next day. Some new people in the raid, so some relearning process, but it did not take us long to be back on tracks. Not long ago one thing led to another, end result documented by one of the more elegant kill shots we had.

WoWScrnShot_030215_222141The fact that second boss in a row dropped completely useless items on our first kill is a little disencouraging, we sure this is not some new trend about to stabilize.

Next target on the kill list, the Germans. Doesn’t get much bettter than that.

One down

After some good, near-death attempts on our first mythic reset, we were left with a little bit of a bad taste at our own performance to be perfectly frank. We knew we had more than enough gear to get the job done, the strategy was quite self-explanatory, honestly we just did not play very good. Sad but true.

Luckily on the next reset we first went through a heroic clear with no hiccups and then we were back at Beastlord Darmac. Things were clicking from the get-go this time and it did not take long for us to get it done.

WoWScrnShot_022615_222234Good first boss in mythic. Nothing really hard, but long enough to leave not too much room for mistakes. We are glad to be done with it after a few too many low hp wipes. Sad but true, we got all the possible worst drops from his loot table.

Blackhand dead, heroic Blackrock Foundry cleared

All the way up to Blackhand the first reset, then some time spent on the villain himself refining the tactic and down he goes. Very enjoyable fight, for once not a marathon, but surely has enough going on to keep us busy.

WoWScrnShot_021615_221944

From personal point of view, I would have a hard time deciding whether it was Blackhand or the Blast Furnace that gave us more of a challenge, but statistics leave no doubts – it was the final boss.

So, with the new items we got, with those tier sets starting to happen, we appear to be ready to step into the real deal, mythic mode.

Ko’ragh slaughtered

A few days left till the Blackrock Foundry release and we have slain the second last villain in mythic Highmaul, mister Ko’ragh. Very good fight with both ride wide assignments as well as a fair bit of personal responsibility, so all the more pleasure to win it. If anything, one would hope that “physical versus magical” dps thing doesn’t become a trend, like melee versus ranged. We have already had a fair bit of setup problems on this single guy, we would hate to have to toy around with that more often.

WoWScrnShot_012515_212659That said, still a very good encounter. Now that we have cleared the way to the final boss, Imperator Mar’gok, we can’t help but regret there is not enough time left for us to stand a realistic chance of killing him. Despite that, we shall put our best effort in training the fight, should we decide to revisit it at a later stage.
